10 Years & Counting

Yesterday, Cami and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary and it has been wonderful. We have had fun times together and I look forward to the rest of our lives and eternity together.

For our anniversary this year, we decided to think about what we did when we were first married and lived in Fort Collins, but the more we thought about it, we couldn’t really think of what we did. Once in a while, we would go walk around Old Town, Fort Collins and get ice cream or something, but nothing very interesting.

So we went to plan “B”. My mom and dad took all the grandkids (minus the babies) for a sleepover so it worked out great for us as we just had Clay. We decided to go on a hike up in Loveland or Fort Collins and so we got packed up, took the boys to grandma and grandpa’s and headed up north.

We thought about going to Horsetooth Reservoir as they have quite a few trails and paths. We also talked about trying Devils Backbone in Loveland on the way up. Even though we have lived here in Northern Colorado for 10 years, we have never really looked into the hikes up there, so Cami got me a guidebook. It was interesting because I never realized there was so much so close to here. It is pretty exciting for this summer. I think we will do a lot up there.

After we dropped the boys off and by the time we got to Devils Backbone, Clay was fast asleep and Cami was pretty tired so I left them in the car and went hiking by myself. I didn’t go that far because if Clay woke up I didn’t want to be gone that long, so I just went and checked it out for future reference. It was pretty nice and they allow bikes on the trails, so I thought it would be fun to do with our boys one afternoon this summer. It was pretty windy and dusty so it was probably a good thing that Clay stayed in the car. I borrowed a backpack carrier from my brother for Clay and haven’t been able to use it yet and I was kind of looking forward to that, but maybe next time.

So back to the car and up the road a little further to a trailhead called Coyote Ridge. It was about 2.5 miles from the parking lot, up a dirt road to anything interesting so I just kept driving after looking a little at it from the car. So I drove us up to Horsetooth where we originally wanted to go. When we got up there, it was way too windy to make it any fun, so we got out and looked around and let Clay stretch out for about 30 seconds and then put him back into the car where we stayed for the drive north around the Reservoir and back to FC.

So we found a parking spot in Old Town and decided to walk around, just like the good ol’ days. We went to one of our favorite restaurants called Beau Jo’s Pizza, then out to the plaza for a little while. On the way back to the car we stopped at Kilwins Ice Cream and got some to go. It was great.

After we had enough, we headed for home. We got home at about 6:30 and cleaned the car and home and hung out the rest of the night. Even though none of the original plans worked out, It was a perfect day and we spent it together. That is what we really wanted to do anyways.

Cami got me a cool suit for our anniversary. I knew ahead of time what she was getting because we had to get it early while it was on sale. She also got me a hiking backpack and some accessories to go along with it. It was just what I needed. I got Cami this really cool digital picture frame. It is something that I thought would be great to have because she has so many picture frames that are in storage, so what better way to display them? I did a bunch of research online and read the reviews, so she may have been more impressed with that then the actual gift itself. This is the one I got and I would recommend it highly. I have about 50 photos on it now and it just cycles through them randomly.
