Gary’s 6th Annual Golf Marathon

This last Monday we all met up again for the 6th Annual Golf Tournament for my dad’s birthday. It all started in 2000 when my dad turned 50. He wanted to play 50 holes of golf in one day, or one for every year of his life. I am not sure why we agreed to do it, but we did and have done it every year since then.

This year I was unprepared because I have only played once the whole year. I was a little nervous and concerned about how it would turn out. After all was said and done, it wasn’t too bad.

We played out at the Mad Russian, like we do every year. It was hot a tiring. I was not too into it during the later part of the day, but it was pretty fun over all.

The first round I shot an 86, which wasn’t too bad for that course. It was basically bogey golf, which is what I usually strive to shoot. The layout of the course is so bizarre that it is hard to have good golf course management, but no big deal. The second and third rounds we played scramble golf to keep it sped up some. It worked out pretty good and our team shot a 6 under, but were beat by both the other teams at 7 under. I think they cheated.

We are recovered and recuperating. Now we put the clubs away until next year when we will probably dust them off for 57.
