Koby’s Basketball

Koby has started playing in the Evans "Hot Shots" basketball league this year and is having a pretty fun time. I say "pretty" because at this young age, it is hard to keep the attention of little kids to the point that they really enjoy anything for a long period of time.

Spencer is my assistant coach and has a great time playing with the team in the practices and sitting with them at the games. There is usually an odd number of kids at the practice, so he gets to play with them ad has fun doing so.

Koby is 4 and the league is for 4-6 year old’s, so the have to alter the rules to fit the kids understanding and level of ability. They play on 7 foot rims and have a ball that is 27.5" around, which is an inch smaller than a women’s ball and two inch’s smaller than a men’s ball. They don’t call traveling or fouls and make the teams wear matching wrist bands so they know who to guard on the other team. Over all, the kids really look forward to the treats at the end of the games. We have fun and the kids are great.

I think that we have three of four more games. I will try and get some pictures up so that we can look back and laugh. Koby and I did get some pictures together and I am excited to receive those.
