I read Seth Godin’s blog. It is great. Yesterday, one of his posts was Where Did It All Go. It is interesting that even though we live in one of the richest societies, if not the richest, we still manage to find places to spend our money and struggle to pay for the basic necessities of life without going further into debt.

We live in a macro-economic world. Even though we may not think in these terms, the fact remains. If we decide to spend money for a bigger home or a vacation, it limits the amount of money we can put towards other, possibly more important decisions, like retirement and children’s college education.

I’m not saying not to upgrade or go on vacation, but make sure that you understand it from a "big picture" point of view.
